When your Pinterest wedding board hits triple digits and repeats of TLC’s “Say Yes To The Dress” are getting old, it might not be a bad idea for this blog post to coincidentally end up in your boyfriend’s inbox. CNN recently featured an article about 10 things to know before buying an engagement ring (click here for the entire article), and a few of their tips were too good not to share…
Don’t settle on a band setting that you are not completely happy with! Search around and make sure you are getting the right ring for your soon-to-be wife.
Make sure you really know what you are paying for and request a certification that entails the cut, carat weight and measurements of the ring.
Know your metals
All metals are unfortunately not created equal. Platinum and gold settings are more expensive, however they hold up the best over time and are worth it in the long run.
Invest in insurance
Depending on how expensive the ring is and where you live, it can be a very smart move to invest in insurance incase the ring gets stolen or is lost.
Dream up a custom piece
Custom does not have to mean expensive! It will most likely cost a little extra, but proposing with a one-of-a-kind ring that only your bride has is worth it.
Happy ring shopping!
